Founded in 1984, GMS has provided 40 years of vital support, advocacy for multiculturalism, and fostered community engagement. GMS is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation that supports migrants, refugees, and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities through a range of community, aged and disability services. These services include the delivery of personal care, home support, respite care and social support, all offered in an inclusive, flexible, culturally sensitive and caring manner.

About the role
About the Role
Reporting to the Board Chair, as CEO you will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of GMS, ensuring that the organisation remains responsive, sustainable, and impactful. You will:
- Lead and oversee the delivery of high-quality services across aged care, disability, and community support programs.
- Provide strong values-based leadership to a team of approximately 50 staff as well as GMS’ clients.
- Provide representation and advocacy for related services and multicultural interests across the Gippsland community.
- Provide strategic direction, financial oversight, and operational excellence across the organisation.
- Lead the growth of the organisation and its services through diversification of services and geographical footprint.
As CEO, you will also be directly responsible for three key portfolio areas being Program Delivery & Quality, Community Development, and Marketing & Communications.
Other key responsibilities of the role include:
- Drive the development, implementation and evaluation of the Board’s strategic plan
- Foster strong stakeholder relationships at all levels of government
- Oversee compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as maintaining a high standard of ethical practice.
- Ensure the organisation remains financially sustainable through good governance and stewardship practices
- Nurture a safe, high-performing team culture that embraces the organisational values.
About the successful candidate
Driven by a strong sense of purpose and passion to care for the multicultural and vulnerable members of our community, you will also possess the following qualifications, experience and capabilities:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in business, health, or social sciences
- Minimum 3 years of senior leadership and management experience
- Experience working in the not-for-profit or human services sector
- An understanding of the needs of CALD, aged and disability community members,
- Proven skills in strategic leadership, financial and operational management, people leadership, stakeholder engagement, and program delivery
- Strong strategic thinking, business acumen and demonstrated experience in driving sustainable organisational growth and business development
- Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, adaptability and problem-solving skills.
